Essential Practice #5
Promoting Professional Practices
JBHM rubrics examine all practices that bear on student performance, from classroom to boardroom. The rubrics identify opportunities and means for improvement. In the case of administration and school boards, the specialist leading the engagement works directly with leadership at the school, district, and board to help them resolve any issues and implement procedures that improve their working relationship with the school – and, potentially, with other schools not even involved in the transformation project.
In the case of teachers, promoting professional practices means job-embedded professional development and the implementation of learning teams. Prompted by needs identified in ILeRT, specialists model, support, and train teachers in a customized manner to remove any barriers to student performance. The specialists also work with Renaissance Learning’s DEEP Capacity process (“Developing Enduring Excellence through Partnership”) to create a multi-year plan to develop, and best-practice implementation of technology.
